Back to Business…

January 11, 2009

Has it been 3 weeks since we’ve seen each other? Yes!

The girls met at Sue’s house this evening to chat, make plans and eat:-)

On the agenda…recording a new Christmas cd.
The consensus…do it – but wait until next year:-(

We also discussed new songs to add to our repertoire and we ordered new music in hopes of finding some crowd-pleasing pieces. YIPPEE!img_1053img_1054img_1056img_1057

"White House Holiday Open House - Women of Note"

Last year at this time, the Women were in Washington D. C. where we were guest performers at the White House Christmas festivities. No group of girls ever had more fun traveling together:

Spotlight on…Beth

December 7, 2008

beth-wonBeth is another founding member of Women of Note–having been with the group since its inception. Beth can be heard regularly singing soprano 2 with her singing partner, Sue, but her lovely voice also allows her to spend time joining the soprano one’s on very high pieces–especially at Christmas time!

She is also our #1 rhythm keeper and can play a mean cowbell!

Beth is an incredible ideas person–creative, amazing, enthusiastic and FUN!!  Beth brings a wide variety of talents to the group (none of which we could do without!!)

-)

No one can uncork Dom Perignon like our Beth:-)

–she is our resident “blogger extraordinaire” (although we gave her a break and didn’t make her create her own “spotlight” section!), top notch Cosmo creator, and retreat game expert.

-)

If we need the perfect drink to go with the perfect game–Beth never fails!  Beth also makes the world’s best bacon.  It’s a fact that no one can fry up bacon like Beth.  (Her dog, Reno, can vouch for that!)

Beth is a busy mom of two children, a 4th grade teacher in the South Berwick school system and a successful Ebay store owner.

She loves to go camping and Geocaching with her family and has the most incredible gift of rhyming. When we need a special song written, Beth always has just the right words.

We have so many wonderful moments and fun memories thanks to Beth!  She is truly an AMAZING Woman of Note!

The Women practice every Sunday afternoon.  Our space is a “Ladies Lounge” at a local church, and we are very happy and comfortable there.  We have access to a piano, a tea kettle, the thermostat, and a bathroom – what more do we need?!

Spotlight on…Judy

September 6, 2008
Judy

Judy

Many of the songs sung by the women are driven by a steady, low beat. Our Judy is one of two 2nd altos who keeps that rhythm going. Granted, she winds up with some less-than-interesting lyrics…”doo ba doo”, “dit dit ‘n dit”, and so on!

Judy has been with Women of Note since the very beginning, back in 1992, but her singing career started long before that. At age 8, she sang her first solo, “I’m Always Chasin’ Rainbows” and she has been performing ever since. She even had a long stint in the Sweet Adelines.

Judy enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to travel, and recently took a trip with her daughter to Tuscany. Since we’ve known her, we’ve discovered a few things: Judy loves to sleep, she should never have wine before she sings, she has been known to have a lead foot, and she is easily left behind because she walks so slow!
