Retreat, Fall 2009 – Take 2
September 23, 2009Retreat! Fall, 2009
September 22, 2009Oh Boy! It seems like just yesterday that we were skipping down the beach at Goose Rocks – but that was a whole year ago! Luckily, we received a return invitation from our wonderful and gracious hosts. And so we hit the beach, the Dom and the Indian food once again:-)
- Oh Oggi, my Love…
- This girl just shines!
- Twins!
- So HAPPY to be here!
- The morning after breakfast buffet…
- Dani’s meaty breakfast strata!
- Who ARE these people?
- Singing to unsuspecting passersby…
- A bunch of posers:-)
- Beach blanket boogie, Beth?
- Getting left behind:-)
- A hunky “dory” day for a walk on the beach!
Strawberry Festival
June 28, 2009The clouds parted and the rain disappeared just in time for Saturday’s Strawberry Festival! It was a day worthy of song, and sing we did! The audience was lovely and the music flowed. Take a listen to Dani singing, “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye”…
Here the group sings a song new to their repertoire, Peter Gabriel’s “Shakin’ the Tree”…
Another new addition is Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sounds of Silence”…
Women of Note perform for President George H. W. Bush
June 19, 2009This article was posted on Seacostonline on June 18, 2009 6:00 AM:
KENNEBUNKPORT — Women of Note, an eight-person a cappella group, performed at President George H.W. Bush’s 85th birthday on Saturday, June 13. The gathering of 130 family and friends from all over the country enjoyed dinner while Women of Note performed a few favorites like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Bie Mir Bist Duen Shoen” — personalized to include a birthday message for our 41st president.
Spring Retreat!
May 11, 2009We were off on retreat this weekend. We headed off to a little hide-away in Kennebunkport where we ate, drank, and celebrated a very special birthday for our Nancy!
Lisa put together the perfect theme – Princess! – and then she decorated the house, dressed Nancy up in a boa and tiara we were ready to party!
Let’s see… Nancy opened some perfect princess gifts:
There was a frog…
Who turned into a prince…
and a generous gift certificate for services which shall remain unnamed…

There was, of course, a lot of laughing…guffawing, really…

And…cake!done

March 24, 2009
Yum!
The first day of spring and our Lisa’s birthday arrived simultaneously last Friday. This was cause for cake, daffodils, and a celebration. Happy Birthday, Dear Lisa!
Yeah! A Party!
February 20, 2009
The girls were invited to a pre-Valentine’s Day soiree last weekend. So…we met at the park ‘n ride and made our way north for an evening of good food, good friends and hopefully good song!

Our fabulous hostess is an equally fabulous cook. Special kudos for 2 of her dishes: a fabulous and spicy jambalaya, and a generous and delicious bowl of rippled chips with French onion dip – a favorite of the girls!
Midway through the night we parked ourselves in front of the fireplace (have I mentioned before that several of us are perpetually cold?) and serenaded our fellow guests with some of our favorites: My Funny Valentine, Don’t Let You Heart, and And So it Goes.
All in all it was a lovely evening!
Back to Business…
January 11, 2009Has it been 3 weeks since we’ve seen each other? Yes!
The girls met at Sue’s house this evening to chat, make plans and eat:-)
On the agenda…recording a new Christmas cd.
The consensus…do it – but wait until next year:-(
We also discussed new songs to add to our repertoire and we ordered new music in hopes of finding some crowd-pleasing pieces. YIPPEE!
