Oh Onion Rings

OH ONION RINGS

(Please sing to the tune of “Oh Christmas Tree”)

Oh onion rings oh onion rings
you make us want to eat thee

Oh onion rings oh onion rings
we saw you and said WHOOPEE!

symmetric stack of deep fried bliss
we took this pic, to reminisce

oh onion rings oh onion rings
we couldn’t help but eat thee!

Holiday Party 2011

December 14, 2011

On Sunday evening, the girls (and Denis) gathered at Tia’s Topside in Kennebunkport for their annual holiday dinner and Yankee Swap.  It was another festive event!

THAT FRAN drew lucky number 1 for the second year in a row, guaranteeing her the pick of the swap gifts.  She went home with a lovely scarf, earrings and a pair of socks regifted from last year’s party:-)

THAT NANCY had the audacity to take a most beautiful bracelet from Beth, leaving her in possession of an indoor/outdoor thermometer!

THAT JUDY swooned and snuggled with a bearded gentleman sitting at the end of the table.

THAT DANI whisked away what Robin coveted most: a wooden box full of assorted teas.

THAT DENIS tried to commandeer the sparkly rhinestone bracelet, but in the end their union was not meant to be because THAT SUE took it away!

It was a great night!

We have one more singing engagement before 2011 draws to a close.  We’ll be caroling through the dining rooms of the York Harbor Inn this Saturday, December 17th, starting at 6:15 in the evening.  Please join us!

A Wish Come True

December 11, 2011

Huntington Common was a beautiful setting for a Sunday afternoon of caroling.  We girls love the folks at HC so much – they’re a welcoming, wonderful group of people.

We were so honored this year to be able to sing “Happy Birthday” to George on his 103 birthday!! WoW!

And then we met June Fraser

June is a resident at HC, and a recipient of their “Make A Wish” initiative.

Her wish?

A trip around the world in a hot air balloon – no.

A year’s supply of elk jerky? – nope.

High heels?  Cheese whiz?  A player piano?  I think not.

All June wanted was for the Women of Note to sing for the folks at Huntington Common.

And when we heard we were someone’s wish, we were moved to tears.

Thank YOU, June.

You made our Christmas, and perhaps our entire year.

A Notable Night

December 10, 2011

There were ups and downs for the women at The York Harbor Inn last night.

Some lessons learned:

~we sound especially good in a pub setting:-)

~even a lowly chip clip can become a grand percussion instrument in the right hands:-)

~never underestimate the power of drinking water:-)

~the right accessory can make even a hospital johnny look elegant:-)

~There’s comfort in knowing your girlfriends will catch you when you fall:-)

~Christmas carols can lighten even the most harrowing experience!

Arriving at The White Barn Inn

The women kicked off the 2011 holiday season at Kennebunkport’s Prelude weekend.  The guests at both Tia’s Topside and The White Barn Inn were full of fun and holiday spirit.

A huge THANK YOU to Wes Mills for taking pictures:-)

Some highlights:

~Stowe’s pudgy thighs peeking out of her Christmas sweater.

~Lisa’s feathered ankle boots – very pretty, but they didn’t last too long.

~Family members that touched our hearts.

~A serious WON wedgie in the far back seat of Dani’s clown car.

~Dangerous undergarments.

~In Dulci Jubilo…:-)

~We’ve grown a little sad… grown a little sad… grown a little sadder!

~”I could hear YOU the best!”

~Even a small glass of port can have a very big impact!

Girls, this woman of note hasn’t laughed so hard in a very long time – last Christmas? – thank you all for being you.  xoxo Beth
