A Notable Christmas…

December 15, 2008

It was another notable Christmas singing season for the Women, but not in the same way as LAST season. (see previous post!) This year involved ice storms, power outages, bronchitis, dental mishaps, and passionate kisses:-)

While every detail cannot be divulged here in a public forum, suffice it to say that no matter the circumstances, we girls had a lot of fun! Here we are last Saturday night at the York Harbor Inn. (We were given the most beautiful room for our dinner break…)

We were back in action on Sunday afternoon as we performed for the wonderful residents at Atria. The concert was followed by a reception and a photo shoot with Santa!

Afterward we headed to Riverridge Health System to sing for the residents and their nurses. They, too, were a lovely audience!

Our final destination for the day AND the season was out favorite Thai restaurant, Mekhong Thai, where we had our annual Christmas dinner/party/Yankee Swap. We had a great time eating, laughing and singing. The most sought-after gift of the night? A basket of coffee and all the accessories.

And lastly, a song…

Last year at this time, the Women were in Washington D. C. where we were guest performers at the White House Christmas festivities. No group of girls ever had more fun traveling together:

Spotlight on…Beth

December 7, 2008

beth-wonBeth is another founding member of Women of Note–having been with the group since its inception. Beth can be heard regularly singing soprano 2 with her singing partner, Sue, but her lovely voice also allows her to spend time joining the soprano one’s on very high pieces–especially at Christmas time!

She is also our #1 rhythm keeper and can play a mean cowbell!

Beth is an incredible ideas person–creative, amazing, enthusiastic and FUN!!  Beth brings a wide variety of talents to the group (none of which we could do without!!)

-)

No one can uncork Dom Perignon like our Beth:-)

–she is our resident “blogger extraordinaire” (although we gave her a break and didn’t make her create her own “spotlight” section!), top notch Cosmo creator, and retreat game expert.

If we need the perfect drink to go with the perfect game–Beth never fails!  Beth also makes the world’s best bacon.  It’s a fact that no one can fry up bacon like Beth.  (Her dog, Reno, can vouch for that!)

Beth is a busy mom of two children, a 4th grade teacher in the South Berwick school system and a successful Ebay store owner.

She loves to go camping and Geocaching with her family and has the most incredible gift of rhyming. When we need a special song written, Beth always has just the right words.

We have so many wonderful moments and fun memories thanks to Beth!  She is truly an AMAZING Woman of Note!

Happy Holidays!

December 2, 2008

p10101781Women of Note started off the Christmas season on Sunday with a holiday concert at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport.  The concert was sponsored by the Kennebunk Senior Center and it attracted a good sized crowd.  The women sung holiday favorites like “Carol of the Bells” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.  They also debuted their 3 new pieces (see previous blog!) which went well – the girls are breathing a HUGE sigh of relief about THAT!

After intermission, the crowd joined in on “Silent Night” and “O Come all Ye Faithful” – the voices and harmonies brought tears to this writer’s eyes…

p1010185And so, our holiday season is underway.  Please join us for an upcoming event, if you are able.  To view our schedule click “Upcoming Events” at the top of this page.  In the meantime, take a listen to the first song on our Christmas cd, “In Dulci Jubilo”, by clicking below.
